About Us

Veridocs Booth at NIGA 2009After September 11, 2001, the US Government enacted the USA PATRIOT Act in order to identify illicit funds flowing through the US financial system.  This Act applied to a multitude of government regulations affecting a variety of businesses, but most importantly Financial Institutions, of which for purposes of this Act, included most casinos.

For the Gaming Industry, already one of the most regulated businesses in the world, it quickly became evident that complying with the additional regulatory requirements and reporting that the Act created was a cumbersome endeavor.  Increased fines were being issued and costs were mounting all around the industry.

With a history rich in auditing regulatory compliance at all levels of gaming operations, Dennis Nelson saw the need for an automated solution to assist gaming operators with some of the new requirements.  In 2005, Dennis collaborated with Mike Pate and together they developed a solution to validate and vet the identifications of patrons against multiple local, state and federal regulatory mandated watch lists. Not only did this application automate the searching of multiple watch lists, but for the first time provided the casino operator with the ability to actually validate various forms of government identifications. This provided the operator the assurance that the identifications were valid and assisted in mitigating their risk of fraudulent financial transactions.  They named the solution ePAC (short for electronic Patriot Act Compliance).

In October 2006, Dennis and Mike formed AP-ID, Inc. and rolled out the first installation of the ePAC solution at the Venetian Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.  At the end of 2008, ePAC was installed in over 55% of the casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip with several installations outside the state.

In 2009, AP-ID, Inc. changed its name to Veridocs. Veridocs was a better reflection of the company, its product and its mission.  The name incorporated the idea of verification and/or validation, identification and document authentication. Though the product was developed to assist the gaming industry with mounting regulatory challenges, the evolution of the Veridocs solution is enhancing productivity and customer service, with a uniform objective of mitigating risk. Today, Veridocs not only validates government issued identifications, while searching multiple watch lists, but also provides document imaging and storage for other non-ID documents.  Veridocs provides a data management solution that is not only applicable to the gaming industry, but also to law enforcement, human resources, high-end retail and the entertainment industries, to name a few.
